about
Arab-American artist Yusif returns with TWO WEEKS IN TOKYO, an upbeat dreamy indie folk rock tune he wrote one Seattle summer while living in the back of a Dodge minivan. From 2011 to 2016 Yusif toured the US, gaining mentions in Blurt and Huff Post. Written towards the end of that stretch, this tune’s sultry vulnerable refrain, “I just wanna go home,” echoes Yusif’s journey back to Kuwait, as well as his sense of aimlessness in starting on a new path in life.
lyrics
TWO WEEKS IN TOKYO
Oo, oo, I don't have a plan
You don't ever see the way I really am, the way I am
I don't give a damn
And if I did I know you'd understand, just where I am
I've got two weeks in Tokyo, man I don't wanna be alone, oh no
I've got two weeks in Tokyo, man I just wanna go home
I just wanna go home
Oo, oo, two weeks in Tokyo, two weeks in Tokyo
Let me take you there, let me put blue roses in your hair
When I'm there
Let me make amends, let me say I hate the way it ended
I pretended
See I don't hate you yet, and if I did I'd probably forget
Why I'm upset
You don't have to go, you don't have to love me if you don't, oh no
I've got two weeks in Tokyo, man I don't wanna be alone, oh no
I've got two weeks in Tokyo, man I just wanna go home
I just wanna go home
Oo, oo, two weeks in Tokyo, two weeks in Tokyo
Oo, oo, two weeks in Tokyo, two weeks in Tokyo
Oo, oo, two weeks in Tokyo, two weeks in Tokyo
Oo, oo, two weeks in Tokyo, two weeks in Tokyo
